Snow On The First Day Of Winter In 2024. While most were still asleep at 0420 local time on Saturday, December 21, 2024 when it "officially" turned from autumn to winter, snow was already falling in the New York City area. Since it looked the temperatures would not keep it around for long, the correct move was to head out early to catch a few shots of Amtrak and MTA Metro-North Railroad. As the area is now well into the "stick season" of trees, the snow really does help dress the scene. A few trains passing around the Metro-North Riverdale Station in the Bronx, New York.
