With its elaborately carved galaxy of Tamil Hindu art from the late 7th and early 8th centuries, Kailasanathar Temple is well-known. While having numerous motifs related to Vaishnava, Shakta, and Vedic deities, they are mostly connected with Shaivism. In Tamil Nadu, the temple is noteworthy for being one of the first and finest instances of Hindu mural painting. It may be discovered in the courtyard's cell inside walls. The frescoes are in a manner reminiscent of ancient paintings from Kanchipuram's Vaikunthaperumal Temple from the eighth century and the Ajanta Caves. On the walls of the temple, there are several inscriptions in ancient scripts that can be used to learn Tamil temple customs and local history. An ancient Hindu temple from the Pallava era, the Kailasanathar Temple (Kanchipuram), also called Kailasanath Temple, is located in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, India. It is one of Kanchipuram's oldest still-standing monuments and is dedicated to Shiva. It was added by Narasimhavarman via Mahendra sometime about 700 CE, and it exhibits Dravidian architecture. The temple has a square layout and is made up of an entry hall, a gathering hall, and a central sanctuary with a four-story set of stairs on top. Nine shrines, all of which include images of Shiva, surround the main sanctum sanctorum: seven are on the outside and two are within, close to the entrance. There are other compartments surrounding the prakara (courtyard) walls of the temple.
