I fell in love with this movie the first time I saw it in theaters. It was the first star trek movie I'd ever seen in the theaters and to this day my favorite trek film. I love the way it parallels real events in the world at the time of its release as well as the unconventional score.
The title crawl builds like the tide. Each wave bringing slightly higher water, but so slowly it doesn't feel immediately dangerous. At the climax it all rushes away and we get the tidal wave as Praxis explodes.
