Posted Nov 10, 2017 solved November 11. Thank you Tom Krause!!! You nailed it!!! When the choke closes on the horn at fire up, it doesn't open fast enough to let the engine breathe. I manually held the choke open a little and ZERO issue. Original post: My Scout starts (SBC 350 engine), it fires right up and then starts chugging. The whole truck lurches and spits dark grey smoke (looks white on film but it's not white). I have notice it consumes oil over time so I'm thinking a leaky valve seal is filling up the cylinder and that's the engine burning off that oil. I'll pull the plugs and all that but just curious what you guys think.
