North Korea releases video of launch of #Hwasong-16B hypersonic ballistic missile:
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un guided a successful test of the new “Hwasong-16B” hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missile (#IRBM) on Tuesday, according to state media.
North Korea’s first hypersonic, intermediate and intercontinental-range ballistic missiles (ICBMs) all used liquid-fuel engines, which typically take longer to prepare for launch compared to the country’s latest missiles that use solid-fuel engines.
The ability to drive the missile on a transporter erector launcher (TEL) to different locations and quickly fire without pre-fueling helps avoid enemy preemptive strikes, while maneuverable warheads are designed to evade missile defense systems.
