Negroamaro is a little known grape exclusively grown in the “boot” of Italy in the southeastern region of Apulia. Earthy undertones with red and black fruit on the palate make this grape perfect for foods, Italian or otherwise. Conti Zecca is a producer of wine of this varietals and is a wonderful wine that’s also affordable. Mostly red and black cherries it also has hints of tobacco leaf that would pair well with pizza or pasta as well as red meats like steak or even pork chops. It’s only $20 and brings a nice unique flavor to your palate. It’s highly recommended if you’ve never tried one before. They’re not common so if you see a Negroamaro, try it.
