Thick black smoke wreathed a Serb-held suburb of the Bosnian
capital Sarajevo again on Sunday (10/3). Looted factories and
apartments were torched in Ilidza in a fresh wave of arson as
Bosnian Serbs worked to destroy the area before it was taken over
by the Muslim-Croat federation on Tuesday.
French soldiers with the NATO-led peace Implementation Force
(IFOR) used a military fire engine from the nearby city airport to
put out a fire in a block of flats where people were still at
home. Other fires were soon set.
Near Tuzla I-FOR troops from Russia and the United States on
Sunday (10/3) began joint exercises in Bosnia.
