"Alan Dobie is the narrator in this episode of one of television's longest-running and most successful nature documentary series. Here is a genuine wildlife success story. A small acacia woodland on the shores of a rift valley lake seems doomed to be felled and the timber sold to the charcoal burners. This forest is the home to a troupe of nineteen colobus monkeys, and has attracted the attention of scientist Dr Mike Rose. Along with Survival cameraman Bob Campbell, who is on hand to film Mike Rose's work, their joint efforts focus the attention of the estate owner on the fate of the colobus troupe and the forest is reprieved and the monkeys saved. The black and white colubus are beautiful creatures, the early Arab traders called these monkeys the 'Messengers of the Gods because of their habit of climbing high into the trees at sunrise and sunset and crouching there in an attitude of apparent prayer. This film is a fascinating study of how this group of nineteen animals live their daily lives, their conflicts and problems and how their greatest problem, that of survival, was solved by the enlightened attitude of the estate owner on whose property they had chosen to live
