In one week's operation Somali and African union troops advanced and got closer to the sea side town of Barawe, which is one the remaining strongholds of Al Shabaab. In the same week the group's lost its ultimate leader to an American drone strike. Somali authorities have sensed a weakness in the group which they seek to exploit, the Somali government has offered amnesty to the Al Shabaab fighters who surrender, analysts say, it's not enough to turn the group's foot soldiers
