Taxi driver in France and Spain stepped up the fight against a new smartphone app Wednesday.
'Uber' allows customers to book a ride with the touch of a button. Unions and groups representing taxi drivers are concerned the new technology could lead to unlicensed drivers being contacted.
"They've been allowed to get away with it by Transport for London purely because Uber is backed by Google, Amazon, Goldman Government Sachs, $17 billion worth of finance," said Steve McNamara with the Licensed Taxi Drivers Association.
Some drivers accused chauffeurs with private cars and motorcycles of stealing their clients by using cell phone apps.
'Uber' is based out of San Francisco.
