The High Commissioner for Human Rights explains why he is a defender of women's human rights. He emphasizes the centrality of women's human rights to the mission of his Office, and laments the reality of threats and violence against women human rights defenders -- all for calling for their most basic human rights to be upheld. He calls for the elimination of discrimination and prejudice against women and insists on the need for all human rights defenders to be defenders of women's rights.
