Across Australia and internationally, waste transfer stations and community recycling centres currently operate with a primary purpose of enabling recycling. However, there is a significant opportunity to transition these facilities to Circular Economy Hubs that offer the ability to reuse, repair and repurpose materials with a goal to eliminate waste disposal to landfill.
In this webinar we discuss current better practice transfer station design, the evolution of circular economy hubs and how they can be implemented at different scales such as pop-up events (e.g. Swap Meets), medium size recovery centres, and community facilities (e.g. Men’s Shed / Repair Café). It will explore the keys to success through a flexible design that responds to community needs and evolving material streams.
This webinar is for anyone working with the design of buildings and infrastructure interested in the circular economy, sustainability, community engagement, and reductions in transport and emissions.
