Freedom Writers is a 2007 drama film based on the real-life story of Erin Gruwell, a teacher who inspires her students in a troubled inner-city high school to overcome personal and social challenges through writing. The movie is adapted from the book The Freedom Writers Diary, a collection of diary entries written by students from Gruwell's class.
