The process of making a pair of Viking shoes.
Each pair of these is custom made starting with a mould of the client’s foot. They are entirely hand stitched from start to finish and are made from your choice of gorgeous leathers with veg-tan innersoles and rubber soles. The toggles are also hand carved from warthog tusk or bone .
They are super soft and can be considered “barefoot shoes” since you can still feel the ground through them helping you with balance and to feel grounded. Although not historically accurate, they are inspired by viking and anglo-saxon shoes found on archeological digs. A number of years back, I was looking for an alternative to modern shoes which I found clumsy and difficult (I have vertigo and the heavy soles are a problem) I also didnt like the aesthetics of the barefoot shoes that I found available. As a history buff, my feeling is that ancient people wore that type of shoe to walk immense distances and that style of shoe was worn for centuries near unchanged so they must have done something right.
I have never gone back to commercial shoes, I wear them everywhere from hiking to evenings out. I’m really heavy on shoes and hey last better than any other shoes I have owned and are easy to repair or resole if I need to.
I do created a number of different styles which you can choose from :)
