In this video, you will learn how to simulate a two-stage non-isothermal hot forging process using AFDEX 2D, the intelligent metal forming simulator.
This will be a 2D axi-symmetric hot forging simulation where the temperature change during the forging process will be considered. The material of the workpiece is a steel grade named AISI 1020 and its initial temperature is equal to 1200 degree Celsius.
A constant velocity condition will be used in this simulation. The upper die will move downward with a constant velocity of 200 mm per second and the lower die will remain stationary.
A glimpse of the post-processing options available in AFDEX will also be shown at the end of the video.
