In the waning light of September 12th, 1952, the town of Flatwoods, West Virginia, became the stage for a strange and terrifying encounter when children—Edward and Freddie May, Neil Nunley, and Tommy Hyer—were playing outside of the Flatwoods Elementary School. Shortly after sunset and seemingly out of nowhere, a brilliant light tore across the sky, crashing into the nearby hills of G. Bailey Fisher’s farm.
