Our video today is about a wolf dog attacking a Kangal in Turkey.
A wolf hybrid is defined as an animal that is the immediate or remote descendant from the mating between a domestic dog and wolf.
Wolf hybrids retain many wolf-like characteristics which make their behaviour unpredictable in the human setting.
As a result, attacks upon humans and other animals are at disproportionately high rates.
But this doesn't mean that wolf dogs can't be domesticated, of course they can easily be domesticated as they are half dogs.
If you socialise them well from a very early age they can get along with other animals or dogs very easily.
The only problem is that instinctively the male wold dogs would like to dominate other dogs in a pack or in some cases it's called to achieve the Alpha position.
However a lot of biologist don't agree with the term Alpha as they say it's a result of misguided study of Rudolph Schenkel in 1940.
In 1970's Dr L David Mech had spent more than 10 years watching wolves in the wild and realised that packs are families, made up of parents and their offspring, not unrelated individuals coming together to form effective hunting groups.
Mech used the paper to debunk the idea that wolves have alphas and are groups of unrelated individuals.
He’s quite vehement about the fact that saying “alpha” is misleading when better words include “breeding male”, “dominant male”, or “father” are available.
Wolf biologists don’t use this term anymore as it’s so misleading.
Anyways coming back to our video the wolf dog trespassed Mr bahser cattle farm in Turkey and straight away attacked one of the Kangal dogs.
Unfortunately for the wolf dog, it wasn't his day to show its fighting skills.
As soon as it attacked the Kangal, the Kangal took it down within no time.
From there on it was a constant struggle for it to get back up on its feet.
Kangals were bred to fend off wild predators such as wolves, bears, foxes etc and for them fighting is a piece of cake.
The Kangal’s eagerness to defend, intelligence and attentiveness put them on the same playing field as a wolf, especially after spending most of its working life in wolf territory.
As well, they have been known to kill wolves. The Turks say that a successful dog is one that has “strangled a wolf.”
any type of wolf of Eurasia, present no challenge for a well bred, well trained Kangal.
They mostly win fights against herds of wolves not by fighting but just standing still and looking in the eye.
Wolves simply turn back. It is those rare occasions when wolves are starving and have nothing to lose attacking madly to their demise when the Kangal has to do what a Kangal has to do.
It is the ancient old fashioned upright no-nonsense Dirty Harry of canine kingdom.
Kangal knows right from wrong, and to him, wolves are the pests to ruin their order.
Truth be told Kangals have a man-made advantage, their pinned thick metal collars that make it really hard for a wolf to go for the neck.
Luckily Mr Bahser's uncle came out in time and he saved the wolf hybrid from Kangal, otherwise it could've ended really bad for the wolf dog.
