Kabab halla, a signature Egyptian dish, consists of tender beef braised in a velvety sauce of caramelized onions.
Kabab Hala means pot kebab. Unlike the common kebab that is typically grilled on charcoal, in this recipe, the meat cubes are slowly cooked on the stove top, or even better, in a slow cooker.
It is a traditional Egyptian recipe that makes an appearance at many, many celebrations. Best part? It’s so easy to make, and perfect when made ahead!
Ingredients:
3/4 kilo beef cubes
3 medium onions cut into cubes
1 minced onion
2 garlic cloves
1 bay leaf
1 Tbs ghee
1 Tbs veg oil
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
pinch of nutmeg
