Today we take a look at one of the biggest surprises of the year, the Recchara / Myrmecatavola Frances Fox, and wow she is a queen!

Recchara / Myrmecatavola Frances Fox is a complex hybrid orchid belonging to the Cattleya alliance, the parentage being Brassocattleya Polka Dot X Myrmecophila tibicinis.
The result is a stunning, rusty orange flower, with a wild brown dotting on the lip mainly, but slightly on the petals too. When the flowers first open they have quite a great deal of purple, but as they age they transform to a vivid orange yellow and the spotting remains unchanged.
This orchid is also very fragrant, very similar scent to Brassavolas. The scent starts in the night and lasts until the next day in the afternoon. This one has a strong fragrance, very similar in strength to the Brassavola Little Stars, another nodosa hybrid. Brassavola fragrances are usually soapy, but imagine the most refined and luxurious soap you have ever smelled. Many beauty products do remind me of this fragrance.

Overall wow, such a delight to the senses, I am not sure which one is the queen now, the Nelly Isler or Frances Fox? I guess there's nothing wrong with 2 queens :P
