The Nobel Peace Prize for the year 2023 has been awarded to Narges Mohammadi, an Iranian activist who has been fighting against oppression of women in Iran. Nargis Mohammadi has been arrested 13 times and convicted 5 times for protesting against the Iranian regime. She has been sentenced to total of 31 years in prison and 154 lashes. Women in Iran have been protesting since September 2022 when a young woman Mahsa Amini was killed in Iranian morality police’s custody.
