Criminals are often not the brightest bulb in the chandelier. After a recent uptick in entering autos, our Uniform Patrol, Crime Reduction Unit, Traffic Unit and Criminal Investigations Unit created a response plan to stop this trend. This past weekend, Sergeant Nelson keenly observed two suspicious vehicles near Post Road and Atlanta Hwy, they immediately fled creating a unique pursuit with Sgt. Nelson chasing both stolen vehicles at the same time. The entire team was in the immediate area and descended on the two fleeing suspects. We can only imagine their dismay to seeing 6 Deputies' blue lights in the first 90 seconds of their escaped attempt. Poor decision making on their part to try FCSO in the first place.
One successful P.I.T. maneuver by Sgt. Nelson (one of our P.I.T instructors), one successful spike strip tire deflation deployment on stolen vehicle #2 (by Sgt. Hamilton), and two K9 apprehensions by Corporal Sessa and K9 Hummer in two different locations and, again, bad guys are in jail. Hint to criminals: bringing stolen cars and guns to FOCO to steal from our citizens is counterproductive to your freedom. Kudos to the professional work by our deputies in taking armed suspects into custody with no injuries to our citizens, deputies, or the suspects.
