Syria Imposes Curfew In Homs City Following Protests Over Attack On Alawite Shrine | Subscribe to Firstpost
Thousands of people protested across Syria on December 25, triggering a curfew in some areas. This after a video circulated showing an attack on an Alawite shrine in Aleppo's Maysaloon district in the north. However, the Syrian Interior Ministry said the footage was "old" and had been republished to "stir up strife" among the Syrian people during the transition phase. The rebel government also blamed an unknown group for the attack. Protests occurred in Homs, in western Syria, and Qardaha, a town in the northwest. The Syrian authorities have imposed a curfew in Homs until December 26, following reports of one person being killed and five others injured.
