So.... in the States.... loads of yellow school buses. I guess kids live in fairly isolated locations many miles from the school.

Now... when the bus stops... red lights flash, front and rear and all vehicles MUST stop... in BOTH directions..!!

On the passenger side of the vehicle a Standard STOP sign swings out .. with its own flashing lights and.... on the kerb side of the bus a 4ft pole swings out parallel to the kerb to stop kids running in-front of the bus and crossing the road.... BRILLIANT !!

OK ... in rural areas stopping traffic both ways is not an issue.... might be a problem in say Brum or any busy UK town.... although these buses do operate in cities in the US..

Children are really looked after over in the States.... totally different to our attitude over here.... it scares the hell out of me when the kids are coming out of school in Bromsgrove and there have, over the years, been many accidents and indeed fatalities.

Each day, 480,000 yellow school buses travel the nation's roads.
