Liz Truss has claimed that it was the 'reaction' to her mini budget which forced the British economy to stutter and spiral.
The former prime minister made the comments in a speech in which she defended her record, claiming it was the reaction of the 'establishment' and the 'London dinner party circuit' which spooked the markets.
Truss lasted only 45 days as prime minister during which time the Queen died and the British economy took a hit off the back of a range of economic measures announced by the Truss government in the pursuit of growth.
