Despite topping Group C, England's lack of creativity attracted boos from sections of their support for the second successive game. Reacting to the match, some fans called on Gareth Southgate to be sacked or resign, with one saying he 'should resign as soon as possible … the team that we have we should not be playing like that'. One supporter, however, acknowledged the weight the team carries around major tournaments, saying: 'When we go home there is a lot of hate on the players – there's big, big pressure on their shoulders.'
