In this tool restoration video, I am restoring an antique monkey wrench. I purchased this at an antique consignment store in Alamogordo, NM for $4. There are no makers marks on the wrench but from the information I could find on similar wrenches it was made in the late 1800s to the early 1900s.
This wrench was very rusty and in desperate need of a restoration. As I worked on it the metal revealed an interesting pattern that gave me the idea to blue the metal. This allowed the character to show while protecting the finish. I really like the contrast between the bare metal and the blackened steel. I am pleased with the grain pattern and finish I was able to get from my son's (already broken) bat.
There were a lot of firsts for me in this video and if you have any questions or suggestions, leave them in the comments below. I will respond to everyone.
