In Part 3 of his four-part series on golf swing lingo, Titleist staff member John Kostis talks about another golf-speak term that is thrown around too loosely - "Stay Down". It is true that losing posture through through impact can present some big problems, namely both thin and fat shots. However, focusing on "staying down" could be the root cause. Instead, as John demonstrates in this video, you want to set up "tall" to the ball at address. This allows your body to move and rotate more freely and it allows you to stay in balance through the entire swing. This proper setup eliminates the need to thrust your hips at the ball and stand up and out of the shot as you swing. You'll start making clean, consistent contact with the ball in a few short swings.
