Old video from June 2nd when Zulueta was on the mound. Really neat stuff from him showcasing 4 different pitches: a 99mph FB, a 79mph CV, a SL and CH. Zulueta primarily used his FB, CV and SL to great effect, each pitch garnered swinging whiffs. The SL in particular I believe, has changed from a slurvy shape to a tighter bend with more lateral movement. Zulueta did use his CH against the LHHs on multiple occasions but he was not successful in getting the chases and often land for balls.
Another interesting takeaway from that outing was the way Zulueta mixing his pitches. He's confident in utilizing his repertoire and will pitch hitters backward before trying to strike them out with an elevated FB.
One last takeaway that i notice about Zulueta's FB is his command. He's pretty good at getting CS with his FB but sometimes has trouble putting hitters away with his FB. What i mean by that is instead of BIPs for outs, it's the whiffs potential of his FB. Zulueta on many occasion got himself into pitchers count but unable to paint the FB on the edge for whiffs and will go through an extensive AB before a groundout or flyout. This would be something to note moving forward.
Overall, this is a very promising pitching prospect that knows how to sequence, has the confident to throw his all of his pitches. Now he just need innings and refine his CH more. Looking at a possible AA push just before ASB is my guess.
