JACOB NATHANIEL WILSON ( Alliance, OH)
Officers were alerted to an intoxicated male causing a disturbance at Sheetz. The defendant had parked, stumbled into the store, made rude comments to the caller, and was falling and stumbling around the store while trying to get alcohol. Officers attempted to intercept the defendant, who was allegedly driving northbound on Union Ave. Dispatch informed officers that another witness reported seeing him drive eastbound past S Union Ave, continuing eastbound on State St. Using the license plate provided, dispatch advised officers of the defendant's address at 1025 S Linden Ave.
Upon arriving at the address, officers observed the defendant's pickup truck being parked and the defendant exiting the driver's seat. The officer activated the cruiser lights and approached the defendant, instructing him to stop walking toward the residence, which he did. Jacob Wilson had the keys to the truck in his hand when officers arrived.
The officer began speaking with Jacob, informing him that this was a traffic stop and explaining that multiple calls had been received regarding his intoxicated state and the operation of his motor vehicle. The officer detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from Jacob, along with heavy, slurred speech. When asked where he was coming from, Jacob replied, "Don Ponchos," admitted to drinking, and tried reasoning with the officers, asking for a break since he was already home. The officer advised Jacob of his Miranda Rights, but Jacob repeatedly interrupted. Throughout the questioning, Jacob struggled to maintain his balance and nearly fell several times. When asked if he wanted to perform Standard Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), Jacob refused.
Jacob was placed into police custody and escorted to Cruiser #51. As officers walked him to the cruiser, Jacob became very irate and tense. When officers attempted to place him in the cruiser, he turned to face an officer, attempting to "square up." Officers assisted him into the backseat. One officer ran to the driver's side to help secure Jacob, who then tried to headbutt and kick the officer. He began yelling racial slurs at the officers. Once in the back seat, Jacob started kicking the divider and the backseat camera area. The officer later transported him to the Alliance City Jail on charges of OVI and resisting arrest. During the ride, Jacob made several threats towards the officer, including comments about wanting to "stab and kill the officer."
Due to his behavior, Jacob was placed in a restraint chair for his own protection and that of the officers. While in the chair, he made multiple threats of violence and derogatory racial comments. Jacob was read the 2255 in the presence of other officers and denied all requested tests. Officers were unable to obtain fingerprints and photographs due to his irate behavior. After processing, Jacob was removed from the chair, placed in handcuffs, and transported to the Stark County Jail. To prevent spitting, a spit mask was placed on him after he acted as though he was going to spit on officers.
Before leaving the city jail, Jacob began banging his head against the middle prisoner cage divider and had to be fitted with a padded helmet. While an officer was securing the helmet, Jacob bit a sergeant's hand, leaving a bite mark and red irritation. Upon arrival at the Stark County Jail, deputies were awaiting. Jacob was placed in holding cell #2, where he kicked another officer in the leg.
