This year we were in Chiang Mai for Songkran, a huge festival celebrating the Thai new year. It's a massive water fight, three day party and a chance to cool off from the intense heat of the summer.
Make sure you take a waterproof bag as I 100% guarantee you will get soaked! People take to the the streets armed with water pistols and ice cold buckets of water – you will get one straight in the face even if you're just popping down the 7-11 for a pint of milk.
Honestly I was kind of dreading it, the idea of a stranger throwing water over me and giggling to themselves is the sort of thing that would normally do my nut. But I thought I'd just get fully involved and armed myself with a water gun – when in Rome and all that. Turned out it was probably the most fun I've ever had on a new years celebration, as you can tell from the video!
