As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to change every aspect of our daily lives, we hear how social distancing and isolation might be affecting those on the Autism Spectrum. UM-NSU CARD’s (Center for Autism and Related Disabilities) Jennifer Feinstein gives tips to help families and autistic individuals adapt to this new normal.
Plus, research shows that having a job promotes independence and helps reduce the symptoms of autism. Yet, more than half of autistic adults are unemployed – with many having never held a paying job. We visit Marino Campus - a college established by The Dan Marino Foundation - and a local nonprofit called Our Grounds helping young adults with autism and other developmental disabilities gain the confidence they need to live an independent life.
Finally, we hear from Florida's "openly autistic" attorney Haley Moss about her journey as an author, artist and public speaker and her mission to give hope to others living on the spectrum.
