The U.S. government is considering imposing the most severe trade restrictions if companies like ASML continue to provide China access to advanced semiconductor technology, Bloomberg News reported.
Taiwan Semiconductor shares dropped over 8% after former President Trump said Taiwan "should pay us for defense."
“You know, we’re no different than an insurance company. Taiwan doesn’t give us anything,” he added.
