Tributes are pouring in from across Kashmir for Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Bipin Rawat and others who died in a helicopter crash at Conoor Tamil Nadu. GoC 15 Corps Lt Gen DP Pandey and IG Kashmir Vijay Kumar were among those who attended a candle light vigil at Lal Chowk Srinagar in memory of the CDS. Condolence ceremonies were also held at the army's 15 corps headquarters in Srinagar.
Aggrieved by the sad and untimely demise of India's first CDS residents of Machhal village in North Kashmir's Kupwara district carried out a candle light march in his memory. General Rawat and Brigadier LS Lidder who also got martyred in the helicopter accident had visited the Macchal Sector on July 27, 2021. The congregation kept two minutes silence for the departed souls and prayed to grant them eternal peace. At Kupwara during the Friday prayers at the mosques of Macchal, Pushwari, Dabpal and T Shuntwari of Macchal Sector.
Moulvis addressed the people and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls. Condolence ceremony was also organised at Gulmarg in North Kashmir's Baramulla district. All ranks of the Gulmarg garrison along with police, para military forces and civilians paying homage to the CDS.
The event saw a great patriotic fervor among the people who had gathered for the event. A large number of people hailed the motherland and its fallen hero.
