시진핑, 우즈벡 도착…오늘 푸틴과 우크라 개전후 첫 만남
Following his visit to Kazakhstan, Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Uzbekistan late Wednesday night, continuing his first overseas trip since the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Chinese leader is in the country to take part in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit, which brings together eight member countries across Eurasia.
There, he is widely expected to meet with Russian President Vladmir Putin on the sidelines.
The Kremlin's foreign policy spokesman Yuri Ushakov said while Putin is set to meet other SCO members including the leaders of India, Pakistan and Turkey, his encounter with Xi will be of "particular importance."
The two leaders are set to discuss the war in Ukraine and a range of regional and international topics.
The SCO summit in Samarkand runs until Friday.
