Ibn Arabi, as always, stands on a different position from the Muslim theologians and Muslim philosophers when elucidating the relationship between the Essence of God (dhat) and the divine names (the 99 divine names—most popular). In addition, the divine names, in Ibn Arabi’s unique eye, are related to the whole cosmos, and thereby being both identical to and distinct from God. Hence, Ibn Arabi insists that God’s Essence (dhat) is completely different from the whole cosmos. So, how can the two be related? This video tackles to answer the subject regarding God according to Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi.
