US Vice President Mike Pence said that 21 people aboard a cruise ship that is being held off the coast of California have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The Grand Princess cruise ship is not allowed to dock in San Francisco, with its passengers asked to stay in their cabins after a military helicopter flew coronavirus test kits to the ship. In Washington state today, an 11 person died from COVD-19 and the number of cases across the US jumped to 240.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced there are 33 cases in his state, an increase of 11 from Thursday.
Tallying the number of active U.S. cases is impossible at the moment because many people may be sick but undiagnosed, owing in part to a shortage of test kits.
