This video is all about the newest guidelines on how to effectively treat a clogged milk duct and start making your breasts feel better sooner. I outline what a clogged milk duct might feel like and of course the difference between a clogged milk duct and mastitis!
There used to be old guidelines and they said to treat a clogged milk duct you should:
- apply heat
- vigorously massage the breast
- pump your breasts or feed your baby more often
But these guidelines are outdated because we now know that a clogged milk duct is actually narrowing and inflammation of the milk duct and the surrounding tissue! So lets go over the new guidelines such as:
- applying ice to the breast
- breast rest
-Ibuprofen and or Acetaminophen for pain relief
- Avoiding excessive breast pump use
