Counting of votes continues in Burundi amid tensions sparked by President Pierre Nkurunziza's controversial decision to stand for a third consecutive term. Just under three-quarters of the country's 3.8 million eligible voters turned out for these votes. There were reports of gunfire and explosions that claimed two lives. Burundi's leading opposition leader is reported to have called on President Nkurunziza to hold talks with political rivals. He says this could help avert a new conflict in the East African country.
