Indonesian and Filipino Martial Arts both use the Kerambit which is an exotic blade of Indonesian Martial Arts.The Kerambit has been integrated into Kali to improve the effectiveness of Kali. The Kerambit specifically evolved into a weapon for self defense over the ages. The various different silat systems have integrated it into their respective methodology. The Harimau system looks a lot different than the Bhakti Negara system for example, but both are quite effective. Harimau remains the more unorthodox art. Harimau is more difficult to learn but extremely challenging to attempt to counter since the legs and groin are the primary target. In this video the demonstration is with two students, one is six foot five and the other five foot five. While the stand up art with the Kerambit is quite effective against a trained opponent it is difficult to employ. Harimau with the Kerambit would be much more effective against an opponent this tall and strong.
