Breathing Underwater (2019) was written for the euphonium, tuba, and piano trio Conviviality for premiere at the International Women’s Brass Conference. The piece is based on a recurring dream I have had for several years where I am breathing underwater, quite easily and happily, and spend what seems like the next few hours exploring coral reefs, exquisitely blue shallow waters, deep sea trenches, and everything in between. Thank you to Conviviality for their commitment to new music for such a unique and dynamic ensemble.
