The power of sound is being increasingly recognised by marketers across the world. It’s not hard to imagine the “dum-dum” of Netflix’s opening credits audio logo, the famous whistle of McDonalds, or the jingle of a Moonpig ad. Music and sound can affect and influence us subconsciously – helping us recall, engage and feel strong emotions. In this session, Michele Arnese, founder of amp sound branding, is joined on stage by cognitive neuroscientist, lecturer and co-director of Goldsmiths University’s Music, Mind and Brain masters programme, to discuss the neuroscience behind why sound is so important to humans, and why this makes sound crucial to a brand’s marketing success. They will discuss:
- What is the science behind why sound so important to humans – and therefore brands?
- How can audio affect and influence us subconsciously?
- Which brands have most successfully implemented sound over the last few years?
- Why will audio continue to become more important in marketing and branding?
Speakers: Michele Arnese, Founder & Global CEO, amp sound branding; Dr. Diana Omigie, Cognitive Neuroscientist & Lecturer, Goldsmiths University
