Objectives:
• Learn how to create a customized geoprocessing tool in ArcGIS Pro.
Data:
• Download population data at the state level and the county level from ArcGIS Pro living atlas.
• Download mass shooting 2019 (author by weixx) points from ArcGIS Pro All portals.
Steps:
1. Export all the downloaded data to the project geodatabase.
2. Create a new geoprocessing tool in ModelBuilder that can:
a. Create buffers for any input data.
b. Intersect the created buffers with the summary data.
c. Aggregated the intersected summary data for each buffer.
d. Join the aggregated data to the created buffers.
e. Allow users to define the input, outputs, buffer sizes, and statistics filed.
3. Edit metadata of the created tool and provide help info.
4. Test the created tool
a. Select the mass shootings in VA
b. Use the mass shootings in VA as the input feature and the state population as the summary data.
