The Lapu-Lapu City Tourism Cultural & Historical Affairs Commission produced the Cebu Philharmonic Orchestra version of "Bagani," the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines theme song. It premiered on 17 October 2020 during the grand reopening of Lapu-Lapu City to the world. It serves as Lapu-Lapu City's tourism industry recovery theme song.
Written and composed by Roel Rostata, the orchestra version was arranged by Joel Cruz and conducted by Maestro Jiovanni Tabada. Cebu's World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) medalists Vingenr Tan, Ronna Jenn Lofranco-Cañete, John Willace Tubalde, and Erneville Vinculado sung this version, accompanied by the Mandaue Children and Youth Chorus under the direction of its founder Dennis Gregory Sugarol. The version was commissioned by the Department of Foreign Affairs for the National Quincentennial Committee.
In 2021, we will commemorate the Philippine part in the achievement of science and humankind in circumnavigating the planet for the first time. Central in this commemoration is the 500th anniversary of the Victory at Mactan on 27 April 2021. These and more are collectively known as the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines by virtue of Executive Order No. 103 (2020). Know more about the event here: 👇
