Due to construction in the 149th Street Curve/Lexington Avenue Tunnels, (5) trains ran between Grand Central-42nd Street and Flatbush Avenue with no service from East 180th Street to Eastchester-Dyre Avenue. As a result, (2) trains ran between South Ferry and Wakefield-241st Street to compensate.
My overall reason of taking this train was solely for the announcements, but, things improved when the train skipped a couple of stops on the White Plains Road line after East 180th Street, but I stayed on past Gun Hill Road since I thought the train would skip more stops.
Besides the express and then a skip-stop route, I really enjoyed the high-frequency horn (high-pitched horn exclusive to some R142s on the (2) and (5) line and on most R188s).
The stops we made on the trip were East 180th Street, Pelham Parkway, Gun Hill Road, and all local stops afterward all the way to 241st Street.
It was a pretty slow trip since most of the construction was done between Intervale Avenue and Simpson Street and very little construction between East 180th Street and Gun Hill Road.
In regards to the skip-stop, some may call it a battery run, but I personally like to call it skip-stop.
