About Michael Messer

My interest in sports physical therapy began when I was a young athlete having to recover from several soccer-related injuries. The draw of sports physical therapy to me is that patients have a unique path that leads him or her back to activity or sport, and that I get to help guide him or her to their goal. It is incredibly fulfilling to me to see each patient return to what he or she loves. I have a specific interest and expertise in soccer medicine. The time I have spent with my playing career, at soccer-specific continuing education courses across the world, and earning my FIFA Diploma in Football (soccer) Medicine all provide me with a unique expertise in working with these patients. I look forward to utilizing this expertise as part of Duke Health’s accredited FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence, one of only three in the country.
