f/1.4 is awfulll temptinggg. Should you grab the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 in 2020? Or should you stick to the cheaper, much more famous, nifty fifty, the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8?

This lens is for EF mounts (but works wonderfully adapted to RF) and plays nicely with crop sensor camera bodies and full frame bodies. It's a great portrait lens and is fast enough for some tightly cropped astrophotography (as shown in the video) with the very bright aperture. If you can live with the extra cost, the f/1.4 is going to create strongly blurred backgrounds especially if you have good subject separation.
