The Temple of Apollo at Didyma was one of the most impressive sanctuaries in the ancient world. Located in what is now modern-day Turkey, the temple was dedicated to the god Apollo and was believed to have been founded in the 8th century BC.
The temple complex was enormous, with a vast courtyard surrounded by columns, and the temple itself was one of the largest in the ancient world. It was famous for its oracles, which were consulted by people from all over the Mediterranean world seeking advice and guidance.
The oracles were delivered by a group of priests known as the Branchidae, who were said to be descendants of the original builders of the temple. The temple also housed a library, which was said to be one of the largest in the ancient world.
Today, only a few columns and ruins remain of the Temple of Apollo at Didyma. Nevertheless, the site remains an important archaeological site and a testament to the power and influence of the ancient Greek world.
