FANTASTIC, RUGGED LITTLE BEAST!!This is a well constructed, small sized gimbal that will easily store almost anyplace. This rugged little beast feels like it is made out of aluminium with very few plastic parts.
Forget about re-balancing it all the time. Your phone slips into a Mount/Sled that easily pops on and off the gimbal with the flip of a thumb. Don't worry about missing a call because it is so easy to release your phone from the gimbal and then replace it and start shooting almost instantaneously
This gimbal is smaller and lighter than the other gimbals in the SMOOTH class. It has a large, high output battery that is supposed to last 16 hours. There is a micro USB port on the top side of the device that you can order an accessory cord to power your phone so your Cell phone will keep working long after it would usually die when shooting video.
When the Q2 is coupled to your cell phone via BLUETOOTH and the ZHIYUN application , that is when the real fun starts. This gimbal has lots of additional apps including panoramic, time lapse, time lapse with pan and tilt, capture/follow, and still photo.
I found a bug in the software with my phone. When you push the focus button on my cell phone screen my cell phone zooms in or out, I miss my manual focus. There are a lot of features that I miss on this that my Smooth 4 had and this does not. I loved the knob on the Smooth 4 that allowed me to toggle between Zoom and Focus. I also miss a photo feature the SMOOTH 4 had that would take 9 photos 3 x 3 in a grid at the highest resolution your cell phone could capture and then sew the 9 photos together to make a huge high resolution print. Sorry those are all gone in the Q2.
Overall, if you are willing to trade your existing gimbals features off for size, weight ,battery life, and of course less expense, I think you have made a pretty good choice.
