(22 Sep 1969) The opening meeting of the world's first pan-Islamic conference is attended by King Hassan II of Morocco, the Emir of Kuwait Sabah III Al-Salim Al-Sabah, Sabri Hmede Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Khaif Tlissi from Libya, the Prime Minister of Malaysia Tunku Abdul Rahman, the Mali minister of Works Boubakar Diallo, the President of Mauritania Moktar Daddah, the South Yemen Justice Minister Mahfoud Khlifa, Dr Sadok Modaddem, Anwar Sadat, the President of Algeria Houari Boumedienne and king hussein of Jordan.
