It can be done since the hot water and granulated dishwashing detergent are good degreasing agents for cleaning the filters. However, you would still need to remove the detergent from between the pleats with a garden hose. Also, the dirt and debris released from the filter is now in your dishwasher. You could soak the filters in a bucket of hot water with the detergent and then spray between the pleats with a hose.
